Re: 1929 roadster questions (x3)

Re: My first V-8 Flathead was a 33 Coupe

I sure would like to be the caretaker of some of those cars for you Redneck. They sure do look good. It's not good to envy though I've been told.

Looks like you have a nice solid car to start with there. Take your time with it & enjoy the time you spend on it. Maybe get the kids involved.

Re: Paint spots on gas tank

I've had the blushing problem before. With that I usually wet sanded & polished & it looked fine. The tank was painted over a month ago when our weather was warmer but that doesn't mean the humidity...

Re: Paint spots on gas tank

Not sure if it would be old paint. I was more inclined to think it may have been from when I wet sanded the color before putting the clear on. I may have sanded through one of the color coats. I know...

Paint spots on gas tank

I had to restore another gas tank for our 29 A. I used the same laquer that I painted the car with 30 years ago but put clear on top. I put 3 coats of clear on at one time. I thought they were heavy...

Re: Any truth to this story?......

The story of the Dodges being pulled off the ice is true. We saw one of them last year at a light house in the U.P. If I remember right there were some newspaper articles posted near the car showing...

Re: Can a Frozen Hood Latch be Fixed?

I am not familiar with the 32 hood latch but I would start with a very liberal dose of a penetrant like WD 40. I'd shoot it a couple times day for a few days & the start trying to work the latch &...

Re: Time to clean the shed out.

I'd like to live next door to you also. That is quite the pile of junk. I would be over every day just to gaze at the junk & maybe get a ride. Really neat Redneck.

Re: what got me in trouble at age 19

It looks like you had built a nice car back then. I did our Tudor in that time period & I sure miss those days. You could tackle a project without the worry of the EPA looking over your shoulder or...

Repaint

Our 2 dr sedan was finished in 1974 & it is showing it's age. At the time when I did it I used glazing putty on all the small pits in the sheet metal that were the result of bare metal for years. Now...

Re: 1929 Cowl Lacing

Tom,
Thanks a lot for those pictures. They sure explain things well. I was noticing the bolts that hold the gas tank to the cowl were body color. Do you think this is because of a repaint at one...
