Update, the top leaf has the "Ford" logo stamped on it, that was cool to see. It also is beveled as stated earlier.

OK, I was under my 1928 coupe and noticed that the 2 smallest leaf springs are mounted on the bottom [under the main spring]. Does anyone know why someone would do this?:confused:

Ok, I am in the psocess of rebuilding my 7 tooth steering box. I was looking at the sector shaft. It is an undrilled replacement. Surprise as the sector housing wasn't drilled & tapped for a grease...

Just rebuilt and installed differential. I noticed I can turn the rear wheels with the transmission in 1st. gear. Is this normal?:confused:

Thank you, to all. Ordered new backing plates. If they arrive w/ the raised collars that will work. If not I will use washers @ the bolt heads.

Plan to use washers at the heads of backing plate bolts to take up length of bolts so castle nuts and bolt holes line up properly. Good idea?

I am having the same problem, unable to close 1/2" gap between trans and flywheel housings. Splines are in mesh to get this far, but can the clutch alignment/missalignment be the problem this far in?
