Re: Lincoln OD Transmission
I wound up using that setup in my '40. I think it's a Studebaker unit. Fits well even with a reversed eye spring.

Re: Lincoln OD Transmission
I have one I thought about putting in my '40 also, I came to the same conclusion, too much work for the payoff. I used the gears out of it in a '49 Merc OD and I saved the tail because the BW...

Re: 1947 Ford Flathead Clutch Replacement
When I did my '47 I pulled the rear. I feel that's easier. Disconnect the yoke on the Ebrake cable, pull the U bolts on the leaf spring and remove the rear track bar from one side. With the toe board...

Re: 47 brake springs too tight!
They look right to me. I always use brake spring pliers, hook one end on the spring and put the pick end on the head of a brake shoe rivet and they go right on. Those shoes look bonded so you might...

Re: Dual Stromberg questions
The Edmunds intake has the front carb basically in the stock position, and the rear carb over the rear two cylinders. I have the same intake on my '47. You're never going to get the rear carb to pull...

Scott looks cooler IMO, but I probably won't be buying either one any time soon.

Re: Oil change mileage vs. age
I guess my question would be what are you doing with the car now? If it's just going to sit in storage all winter I'd just assume leave it and change it in the spring at this point. If you want to...

Re: 1940 Ford convertible
I saw a pair of cylinders for sale at Carlisle last year. I almost bought them, but I figured mine still work fine after 82 years so having a spare set is probably not necessary.

Re: Convertible tops anyone used these guys?
He actually said he does have a pattern for a '40, but he only made one and didn't get feedback on how it fit. I had my top shop make one for my car when they did the top but it fits pretty poorly....
