I understand how this will work. I took a 5/8" plywood out of the bed that had some 1/4" shims to clear the crossmember! So same story with the new boards.

Pickup floor bed
There are 2 options for a pickup floor bed with or without the metal cutout. Will either of these beds work in an original 1929 pickup?

I'm not using the center plate, so just wood & metal strips.....Won't be original but works for me.

Thanks, I think you have the right solution, I agree removing the bed won't do any good!
The next issue is once removed the new slats should be able to be installed from the top, correct? ...

Thanks for all the suggestions I check the O ring & the antifreeze I am using. The timing sounds like the main reason!
Speed is not important problem free from being is the goal.!
