Re: The new Burtz Mosel A engine
Reading taildraggers first post, took me back about 50 years to the first engine I rebuilt. I did the same thing, but didn't know to double check everything. Got the engine back together and it...

Re: Ammeter - Needle
Has anyone used the Ammeter that nurex sells? Pretty spendy at $80 but they say it's US made.

Re: Zenith Troubles
Also check to make sure the cap jet is fully seated. The jet tool can sometimes jam against the boss, and you think it is seated, but it isn't.
And I know this because.....

Re: Heard on Jeopardy tonight
Actually incorrect. Ford Started the Ford Charcoal Company.
The name Kingsford was not used until after the company was sold to outside investors.

Re: Brake question
The only way to adjust the rods to factory specs is to bring the complete system back to factory specs. This is precisely why they stated not to adjust then during brake service. It masks other...

Re: Brake question
Paul Shinns video tells you to adjust the brake rods. Ford's Service bulletins expressly say NOT to adjust the brake rods during a service adjustment. I think I'm gonna follow Ford on this one.....

Re: Engine stumbles on acceleration
On a side note, you said the points looked good and you adjusted them. I would recommend as a matter of habit, when doing a tuneup, always replace the points. They are inexpensive and without...

Re: Mitchell OD with touring engine
That would actually be the best solution, but alas, is not in the budget. I have the synchro trans in another car, which I went with the standard first, 15% increased second. I really like that...

Re: Comprehesive howto for brakes?
You would also want to adjust them after a brake onerhaul, making sure everything else was correct. They are not to be adjusted as part of the normal service adjustment, which in the youtube video...

Re: Comprehesive howto for brakes?
Not to hijack this thread, but in the service bulletins, Ford specifically stated that the brake rods are set at the factory and are not to be adjusted when adjusting brakes. They even bold typed it.

Mitchell OD with touring engine
Today I was coming home in my CCPU, still fairly new to me about 300 miles since I finished it. It has a stock motor with the exception of a 5.5 Head.
I have a 26% Mitchell which I love and use...

Re: Comprehesive howto for brakes?
Personally I would not follow his videos for anything. I have watched a few and there was glaring misinformation in every one. He is selling advertising. Not promoting good repairs.

Re: GAV Adjustment + Choke flood
If adjusting the GAV changes your idle, then the idle is too fast. The gav feeds the cap jet only, which is used only in mid to high speed use. The idle mixture can be adjusted at the carb, but...

When checking toe in, I prefer to check the front, 6 inches up, and then roll the car so that point is 6 inches up at the rear. This will take slightly out of true wheels out of the equation, since...

I made a sleeve out of vinyl to cover the cable, as it looks too modern.

Everything you need for a cable control is included. As far as length, you just tell them you are mounting to the shifter and it is the correct length with the brackets. The height on the shifter is...

Re: Fuel/air mixture and engine temperature
If that's the case, you are probably idling over 400 rpm, which would introduce the mid range GAV. At correct idle, the GAV is not in use as it does only feed the cap jet.
