Re: Milling Snyder 6.0 Head

Colin, it has been my experience that the shrouding occurs on the backside of the valve from the seat up to the head, and not so much in the roof area. The chamber walls on the backside of the valve...

Re: SNYDER’S 5.5 head vs 6.1

Ron the asking of simple questions are never an issue for me, ...and yes, I know when you purchased your car, who owned it and where it came from.

While people may believe they can feel what their...

Re: Milling Snyder 6.0 Head

Since no one else has responded, I will say this. Yes, I resurface each 6:1 head I install, -but to your question, not to necessarily increase compression. I resurface them to obtain a better...

Re: SNYDER’S 5.5 head vs 6.1

Most Model-A drivers tend to over-advance, ...meaning they set the initial timing too far advanced which allows too much total advance when the spark lever is pulled all the way down. This really is...

Re: Correct rearview mirror

There is no such thing as a correct R/S mirror. If you want something close (-i.e.: NOT fine-point), then what we used on this AA is what you likely want.

Re: Simplicity, Waterbury Hall, or Ammco connecting rod borer

My machine is a Storm #24 so I am not much help to you. I may be wrong but I though Rich Falluca had a surplus Ammco that he was selling on eBay at one time. I think Herm had several different...

Re: SNYDER’S 5.5 head vs 6.1

No. It needs to be heat cycled first so the casting with move all it is going to move.

I am not here to dispute what John is saying regarding using a stock distributor, -however the 6:1 head is...

Re: Volumetric Efficiency

Bob, ...yes some of us do care about VE, and we strive to increase the efficiency. Much akin that like some folks have studied Ohms laws and learned how electricity works and how to make it more...

Re: Wanted 15" Wheels for Model A

Ford pick-ups (-like F100s or F150s) from the 50s thru 70s all shared the same 5 on 5˝" bolt pattern as the Model-A.

Re: Upholstery Question

Just so we are all clear, the material that ALL of us who are sewing interiors use is from Cartouche. Trying to imply that one kit manufacturer's material is superior to Cartouche's is pretty much...

Re: oil grooves

Henk, while I applaud your efforts, I tend to feel some of your content may not be factual. When I have some downtime later, I will take some time to explain my thoughts.

Re: Does Anyone Restore Boyce Motometers ?

You are likely very correct in this. I have never paid that much attention to restoring them as I have never liked them. :D My father was the one that used to "restore" them when I was a kid, and I...

Re: Parts that don't fit

It is a two-part urethane from McMaster-Carr. They have all types though. Mix it and then we put it into an old pressure cooker that we rigged an A/C vacuum pump to de-gas the liquid under vacuum...

Re: Parts that don't fit

Well maybe so, ...and that is good news about Drake's bumpers. Several years ago I started casting our own because of the dimensions were incorrect.

Re: Does Anyone Restore Boyce Motometers ?

Jim, exactly what are you needing? Are you wanting the plating re-done, -or has the mercury separated in the vial? If it is the first one, Craig Riker is the man.

If it is the second one,...

Re: 80 Engines SOLD Middletown, NJ

Re: Bolt and nut orientation

Henk, I am confused. Are you speaking about A-56607/8 Panel (quarter) Assy - outside lower and the A-56605/6 Panel (quarter) Assy - upper RH/LH on a 55A? If so, I'm pretty sure it used an...

Re: Highest Reliable Compression Ratio

Hi Ed. In the typical Model-A, a high compression head really does not make you go any faster by itself, -it helps you maintain your speed when additional power is needed. Where it helps you go...

Re: Max Speed of a Model A in Stock Form

It honestly should not have made any difference. Timing, -whether set manually or set automatically accomplishes the exact same thing. In other words, if the automatic advance sets the total...

Re: Parts that don't fit

Wayne, the issue is no one commercially manufactures the correct ones. The last I knew, Bob Drake was making these for E-V8s and the Model-A vendors sell them to provide someone the ability to...

Re: Max Speed of a Model A in Stock Form

I'll give my opinion of why. Others opinions may vary. ;)

For me, having enough clamping force of the brake shoes to the drums to completely stop all 4 wheels where they can no longer spin...

Re: Highest Reliable Compression Ratio

Yes, ...before Tod, Larry Brumfield offered the Super Brumfield which was 7:1. I have two of them, and can send you photos of you like.
