Tried the starting fluid trick after the suggestion and no vacuum leak detectable with that method.

Yes, the engine is out. I was tapping it in and then tried to bend it over to the bolt hole and felt it snap. This is one of the things I am trying to wrap up before putting it back in the truck....

Not sure what I have as there is no manufacturer logo or name anywhere that I can see anyway. It is not the original carb and why I was so eager to replace it. Here are a few pics.
