1939 mercury. no motor or trans. old and original. pan has rust under drivers feet. body is good. all new glass and gas tank . new brake parts. willing to trade for flathead speed parts.

well I decided not to wait and find the grease fitting. I took the rear apart and found the ring gear had a few chipped teeth . I have another ring gear. how do I seperate the differential housing?

I have the car on Jack's and an under the car. the fitting I'm seeing is threaded on the outside and kinda facing the driver's side. it's at the 4 o'clock postion if you were facing the car

remember it's a 39 merc. not sure if it matters , but for the life of me I cant find the grease fitting . i see a fitting near the u joint on the bottom but I'm guessing it's for the speedo cable. ...

the tabbed ends need to be parallel to start because the brings the brakes shoes in the most so the brake drum slides over them easier.

it makes the actual shift fine. if I co Really really slow forward or reverse it doesn't do it. the second i go above 10mph it starts also clutch pressed in and grinding when coasting is a new one...

well I figured it out . half inch ratchet , 6 inch extension, 1 1/8 socket , and some busted knuckles when it broke loose.

I have the small plug out in the picture. sure seems like it would be a lot easier if I took the bigger one out . dont want to break anything .

I have a 39 mercury with a new original style master cylinder, I also replaced all the brake lines, wheel cylinders, and brake shoes. so now I'm on to bleeding the brakes. what I'm having a hard time...
