Re: How to test vintage oil gauge
Possibly a bicycle pump. You would have to be very careful not to “over” pump. Maybe even a hand squeeze pump like I got for my foot boot after ankle surgery.

Re: A bad day!!
I can’t tell from the picture, but if the spring shackle bowl is short, then you just use a spreader to make it fit. Now you have the spring on, get a magnetic carpenters angle Reader, and measure...

Re: loose venturi
It is a drop in, so yes, it will not be a press or super tight fit.

Re: 30 Coupe running too rich

Re: Never started 55 year old rebuild
If they used a certain type of prelube, it’s probably hard as a rock. Completely disassemble , check tolerances, re lube ect. NOW, you know whatcha got! Or just if you like to gamble on a small odds...

Exactly: get the info from the horses mouth! They made it. They would be the best to give you the correct info for that particular item!

Re: Signs, back in the day
It’s pronounced “corks”, at least in western Washington. Most the loggers usually wore hard soled slippers/moccasins to and from their work bus (crummy).

Re: Spark plug socket
I use an adjustable wrench on my 3X plugs. One time, it slipped off and hit the adjacent plug, cracking it. I still use the adjustable wrench, but am very careful. At that time, 3X’s were about $25...
