Its hard to set the height while still in the car, but, the fingers can be adjusted equal if the pedal height and operation seem good except for a chatter.

The originals are just fine. A good quality set will last and they are easy to adjust. There apparently was a batch of poor quality condensers...

I ground pretty much the same as Dave. Right from each light socket thru the conduit to a good spot on the frame.


I feel the same about the light switch possibly being the culprit.

I get garage sale/flea market chargers for cheap and use them for decades. Very seldom does an old charger go bad. Some of the light weight new ones don't last long, especially you happen to drop...

If there is 1.25" of free-play at the steering wheel, then thats not too bad. Less than an inch is good, but, an extra .25" isn't too bad.

By now I would think everyone here would know that...

Is that 1.25" free-play in just the box or total ? If total thats not too bad. If just the box, it should be better/less.

I agree with properly setting the toe.

I'll assume this stuff is all sitting on the bench. Then the answer is yes. The fingers should be within .002" of each other. Either 5/8 or 11/16 will work, most prefer 11/16.

About 1000 on the 'A' each season and a couple thousand on the motorbikes. Then they sit in the barn from Nov til May. I think they try to reproduce each winter.

Box wrench just to crack loose and snug up. A little never-seize lets them spin right out and back in.

A chunk of rubber tube inside the socket should keep from breaking them.
