When I did my windshield on my 160 B I used big stretch sealant in black. It is water clean up and I have never had a leak.

Do you have the correct gasket?
The gasket for the 1931 S/W is a different gasket. See the below link to the correct gasket sold by Bratton's, and the installation instructions.
