Re: Mitchell Overdrive
I have the heavier Town Sedan, so I added the 5.5 HC head the same time as the Mitchell was installed (this was before the newer 6.0 heads were available). I think this makes a great combination if...

Re: Mitchell Overdrive
Regarding having 33% OD with stock 3.78 rear end: most folks seem to agree that is too tall for most cars unless you have a souped up engine. I have a heavier Town Sedan, with a 5.5 head and stock...

Re: Mitchell Overdrive
I’ve had a Mitchell in my Town Sedan for 15 years now, and just love it. It is a must for freeway driving here in S. California, where I go 55-60 very nicely. But I also use it all the time on our...

Re: A question for old guys
I’m 76 now, and the past few years developed arthritis in my hips and lower back, which has really slowed me down and made doing even minor maintenance a very difficult proposition. I worry about...

Re: 2-3 Shift Point Speed
Mine also likes the spark advance set about 3/4 of the way down, and on our busy surface streets here in S. California I shift from 2nd to 3rd at around 20 mph. Even though you can shift at 15 mph,...

Re: Determining Model A Gas Mileage
I have a Town Sedan, HC head, stock tires, and a Mitchell od. Freeway driving on tours, at 60 mph, yields about 21 mpg. It town, with lots of stop and go, it drops down to around 14. I’ve found it...

Re: Does your Model A overheat ?
Mine overheated once, coming back from Yosemite, over the Grapevine at 5,000’, on a hot day. After getting home, Tom Endy advised pulling the radiator and having it properly rodded. The man that...

Re: Ford Model A engine noise
If one of the engine pan attachments breaks, the loose edge can make quite a high pitched, loud noise. Had that happen on my A, and Tom Endy diagnosed it and helped with a fix.

It does get a bit better with time, after you get used to it, but can be very distracting at first!

I’m from California and bought a Model A from a chap in New York. There are no pink slips for cars of that vintage in NY. It had some type of Title and a registration. A good friend told me to go...

They were not included on the 1930 & 1931 Model A’s. I think by then they concluded they were unnecessary.
