Re: Starving for gas at highway speed
Do you know the office size on the float valve? I’ve seen the spec somewhere, but sure where.
I am not at my shop where I could measure an original and off the top of my head, I do not know the...

Re: Starving for gas at highway speed
several years ago, there were some poor quality carburetor float valves made with a very small hole for the fuel to pass thru. The car would run fine around town but get it on the highway and it...

Re: Battery Move
I always use the ground cable for the disconnect. My reasoning is similar to removing the battery cables with no disconnect. You remove the ground first so if your wrench slips while removing the hot...

Re: Highest Reliable Compression Ratio
[QUOTE=BRENT in 10-uh-C;2006434]
A typical 'touring camshaft' should never make an engine idle lousy.
I agree.
I have a "Touring cam in a B engine with a 6.0:1 head and it consistently...

Re: Tires for my 16" wheels
I would suggest 600x16's. They fit well on the 16 inch rims and look good on the car.
I think the 550's are a little small.

Re: Highest Reliable Compression Ratio
B Engine with Babbitt bearings running a 6.0 head in a car I have done a lot of touring in. No problems at all except watch the spark advance.

Re: Getting 31 Coupe doors to stay closed !!
May be the strikers are worn out and the latch is just barely catching it. The Latch "tongue" could also be badly worn.
Also, the gap between the door and the door striker post may be too wide...

Re: Fan Blade orientation
PDGX,
If I were you, I would remove that fan ASAP.
What you have is a very poor replacement 4 blade fan. It has no strength in the blades close to the hub and over time, and in some cases not...

Re: Snyder's Exhaust Manifold
I think what Brent is trying to get across is that if the JS states that a component MAY have a particular feature and that feature is present, the judges are more likely to declare the component to...
