Re: Deep knocking sound

I had a deep knocking that showed up at idle and sped up when accelerating. The ring gear on the flywheel had drifted a little and was knocking against the housing. pounded it back into place and it...

Pedal bushings

Ok, so I have some REALLY loose pedals. There is a ton of play in them. I am about to embark on doing some work on the brakes finally and know I'm going to have to address this very weak point.

Re: Front Motor Mount alignment

It sits at 4 degrees right now. If I can get the front mount to cooperate and move a little lower, it will be 3 degrees.

Re: Front Motor Mount alignment

Thanks for the help here Bob. I have it assembled right now with the old yoke and the new springs and auxiliary spring, it's really close to being in line just the way it sits right now. I will take...

Re: Front Motor Mount alignment

I don't know if I did a great job of taking the picture, the last picture is of the yoke laying flat on the table (flat where it bolts to the engine) and the yoke stud is pointing up at an angle....

Re: Front Motor Mount alignment

Alright. I got a lot of it out and put the old yoke back in temporarily but with the new springs. Here's what I know and what I've found.

- Front crossmember has been replaced at some point. It's...

Re: Front Motor Mount alignment

I’ll take it all apart again tomorrow and see what I can come up with. It is a new yoke. Had to drill a hole in it for the cotter pin because the whole going through the yoke stud was crooked. It may...

Front Motor Mount alignment

Hello,

I just replaced the front yoke and replaced some of the old beehive springs with a more original setup from Mike AFordable. the problem I'm having is that now the front of the engine is...

Re: Key chain

I use an old UAW Ford Lock Out tag for a keychain. Looks nice, and has a little weight to it.

Re: Switched Carbs: choke rod doesn't line up

This is actually quite likely. I have found at least one body block crushed, so I'm in the process of getting the body off to address a few things. Once I get everything mounted back up, I'll double...

Switched Carbs: choke rod doesn't line up

I just picked up a rebuilt Tillotson Model X, and swapped it out with my Model B Zenith. The choke rod doesn't line up right and it's not a smooth pull.

It never really lined up with the zenith,...

Re: Radiator neck broke loose while driving. What can I expect driving home?

I got home just fine! Honestly, the car is driving pretty normally, I've got the quail and broken piece held on with some tape wrapped around the bottom and fit snugly into the shroud. I'll try and...

Radiator neck broke loose while driving. What can I expect driving home?

Just lost my radiator neck on a drive out to a movie shoot. Saw the quail turning and thought it was just open, but it came off in my hand.

It's a cool day here, and I made it to my destination...

Re: Knocking Noise

I had a knock once and it was the ring gear that had slipped on the flywheel a bit, and was hitting the casing. Hammered it back into place gently and it's stayed put ever since...no more knock.

Re: How do you guys mount your iPhones in the A

I use a Rokform case that has a magnet in it. It's behind a piece of rubber on the case and doesn't scratch the paint. I use this magnet for the phone in the car, and I put it on gym equipment when...

Re: Confirm my suspicions: Distributor woes

Well, that did it! Replaced the distributor cap and rotor, and it's doing much better. Need to redo the carb next, old gaskets, and some OLD seals are creating some inconsistency, I think. Needs to...

Re: Confirm my suspicions: Distributor woes

Unplugged the plugs, and they are black, but not wet, and it's not a thick layer. Easily cleanable, and with the car attempting to start, I'm pretty sure once I clean them, they are good.

I really...

Confirm my suspicions: Distributor woes

So the car died while out on a trip. Never could get it to start again. I figured it was something electrical, because everything else checked out.

Checked for spark, no spark at the plugs....

Closest Aurora Red in a spray can.

Hey guys. I'm not terribly concerned with getting it dead on, but I'd like to get it pretty close.

Looking for the closest I can get to Aurora Red in an off the shelf spray paint.

Any...

Re: Rough running

That said, you will get a lot of advice on what to do next. New gas, clean the carb, time the engine, backlash in the distributor cam, fuel flow issue, rust in the gas. You name it.

All of them...

Re: Rough running

I had some trouble with this recently. Turned out that the nut that held the pigtail wire in the distributor had loosened and was letting it hit the distributor body. I'd look there first and time...

Re: Brake question. Can't stop too quickly without squeaking.

Absolutely. First priority is the one I know needs some attention, but the others need checking and probably a little love.
