Re: Sign of a blown head gasket?

Oil looked good, and I did not see any white smoke out the tail pipe.

Sign of a blown head gasket?

Took my car on a short drive the other day, about 5 miles round trip, with a 20 minute stop halfway.

It overheated, it has never overheated. It runs fine, runs as normal actually, I look under...

Re: A true barn find?

I use new, used motor oil tends to have a lot of contaminants that I think would do more harm than good.

Re: Parts Rant!

My switch body from Snyder's worked fine... I didn't look exactly like the original though from what I recall.

Re: 12 to 6 volt Battery trickle charger

This one also has the leads that you can leave mounted on your battery. Mine dangles just above the running board level. I just lay on my creeper and plug it in.

Re: A true barn find?

To me if you are only changing service parts that would need to be changed or repaired when it was put away it is still a survivor.

I drug my car out and re-assembled it, it has no value unless...

Re: 12 to 6 volt Battery trickle charger

One that handles 6V can be had at most auto parts for under $30... I got mine at our local Meijer Store (like a Wal-Mart only Michigan based). I can't imagine trying to convert a HF one to 6v and...

Re: mechanical vs. hydraulic brake systems

My mechanical brakes stop well, but they have the bonded pads. I can lock up all 4 wheels but it takes effort. I recently drove a friends Model A with the proper pads on the front only - his brake...

Re: It rumbles and grumbles

Have someone ride with you and see if they can capture it on video.

Have you looked at your motor mounts, are the rubbers rock hard? You will get more vibes that way, and the A (at least mine)...

Re: Odd battery issue

I have had 0 luck with Optima's since Johnson Controls took them over, I will not buy another. Too many friends have also had issues the last 10 years.

Many of the new chargers have a...

Re: titles

It changed Jan 1st, 2012. I did one in 2006 and it required police inspection, but other than that it was easy. In 2007 they eliminated the need for the police inspection. This made it really easy...

When did you go through this? They did not do that for mine in 2012.

Re: 6V Batery recommendation

I bought mine at TSC, (Tractor Supply) I'm pretty sure it is an Exide. It is 2 years old now and still strong.

Re: Strange looking Model A

The A pictured above and in the video even has a 'misfire' switch to make it sound more model A like at stoplights and such.... that's a sleeper.

Re: Deuce wheels on a late '31 Coupe

Supposedly the previous (original) owner of our car swapped on the 1930 wheels right away. I have since swapped to 16" wheels.

Re: Lifting a Coupe Body - best step by step proceedure?

Mine had the body bolts removed and wiring was unhooked, and steering column clamp was removed. The fenders were also off, and I was able to raise it enough to move the splash apron and see the...

Re: Enclosed Trailer

Honestly you likely won't see any mileage increase from a V-nose.

Re: Enclosed Trailer

Also the cheaper trailers do not isolate the aluminum sides from the steel frame very well. I looked at a 5 year old trailer that had galvanic corrosion from the dissimilar metals touching. There...

Re: Enclosed Trailer

I have a United 8.5x20. I really like it, but sometimes wish it was a 24'. However you have to have the truck to pull a 24'.

If I did it again I would think more about an aluminum trailer like...

Re: To paint or not to paint a trailer floor

I don't know about yours, but my trailers wood floor has a 20 year warranty. I don't know that I would want to stain (paint) it or anything for fear of voiding it.

Of course I likely won't have...

Re: aluminum fan 2 blade

I replaced my pump and fan last year. No issues other than I had to grind a little on the nose of the replacement pump as the fan was rubbing on it.
