Re: oil leak

Thanks, you are very kind. Don’t have my ‘51 F1 here in MN this year so won’t have any lift need until it arrives (maybe next summer). I did pick up a 1992 F1 though (in great condition) to drive...

Thanks Denny! I appreciate this example. Looks like it will work fine. It was great to meet you and spend time talking cars.

Re: 1972 F100 Shortbed what should i sell it for?

I suggest you sell it for what you want for it. The market will determine if your price is realistic.

Re: Vacuum reading

On the 8BA or 8RT what should the idle RPM be (I think I remember something around 411?) - how would an idle RPM affect the vacuum reading?

Re: Autolite 216 plugs

Maybe I missed something but I did a cross reference for the E3’s but there was none for the autolite 216 or the NGK B6L. What E3 do you use?

Re: Autolite 216 plugs

You don't say what you have but the book for my '51 8BA says the gap should be .025 -.028. However, I use NGK's B6L's.

Re: 1949 F1 ride into town to chase some parts

Sweet! Thanks for taking us along. I enjoyed the ride and your truck sounds nice. I make similar trips in my '51 F1 but I will often stop for a coffee. :)
Life is good.

Re: Who's gonna fill their shoes?

The “electric flathead” was a humorous tongue-in-cheek comment intended to address the inevitable demise of the internal combustion engine in cars.
You’re probably right about gas, but lets compare...

Re: Who's gonna fill their shoes?

I believe there are a few younger car enthusiasts with a desire to carry on some traditions and styles - but each generation tends to walk in their own shoes - so loss is inevitable. And, I doubt my...

Re: 8BA Running Temperatures

I run gauges on both sides and 180 thermostats. I like the engine to get as hot as possible / practical on each drive. I've had no cooling issues!
