Re: Zenith vs Zenith-2 Carb. Which is best?

Ford used 2 carburetor manufacturers, Zenith and Holley. The early (1927) Zeniths were blank on the top & marked "Zenith" on the base. The 1928 Zeniths were marked "Z" on the top and Zenith on the...

The earlier carbs had a carburetor adjusting needle seat that screws into the bottom of the adjusting needle housing (with a gasket). It looks like the comp jet but is a little larger. The adjusting...

Re: Zenith Carb Rebuild Question

The smaller comp jet goes in the fuel bowl. The one that looks like a comp jet but is larger is a GAV adjustment needle seat. Remove the GAV adjustment needle housing and shine a light down. The...

Re: Zenith Carb Rebuild Question

The jets are supposed to be the same height and normally match with only one gasket beneath. It is possible one or the other jets may be non-stock Model A. There are a lot of similar jets out there...

Re: Zenith 1 vs. Zenith 2

Fredski
All of the Model A carbs have rounded bowls and, if marked Zenith 1 or Zenith 2 will have the marking running horizontally. The Model B's (begun in 1932) are not Zenith 2's. the "Zenith"...

Re: Zenith 1 vs. Zenith 2

Steve,
The Model B carbs have Zenith running vertical rather than sideways. The Model B is visually different than the Model A..square bowl rather than rounded and a "chunkier" appearance, but it...

Re: Zenith 1 vs. Zenith 2

There's no difference between the Z1 (Zenith) & the Z2 (Holley) except the marking. Ford used both Holley & Zenith to supply his carbs and had them marked differently so they knew who built it. Jon's...

Re: Carburetor question

Could be an air leak. With the gav open that far more gas than normal is allowed in the carb. If it's running as good as you say, it indicates the excess fuel is being balanced by excess air...which...

Re: Shipping Costs Rant

I calculated UPS at their on line site using my zip 37643 to Seattle, Wa 98101 and 4 lbs (which is less than actual). The cheapest ground rate is $17.03. Perhaps the differential is because of...
