Here is my 885fg off of my 337 Flathead. It was a truck motor, so it had a governor. I changed the dizzy to a lincoln car dizzy so I am going to change the 885 base to a non-governed one. Therefore...

Well lots of good discussion. I think Iíll hang on to my 885. Itís all ready rebuilt who knows maybe set up a manifold with a pair of them on it!

I canít believe these carbs wouldnít flow a bunch better than a 94 or a 97. I just canít believe no one ever checked to see if these could help produce more power.

Iím wondering if the reason for the Mercury flatheads having a higher horsepower rating is due to cam or head differences or perhaps the 885 carb. The venturiís are quite a bit larger in diameter...

Also if you have chrome-moly rings, they take longer to seat than steel.

One thing I thought about also is, if the engine was rebuilt, seals DID get put on the intake valve guides correct? Ask me how I know if you forgot.[emoji16]

What Iíve got left, (I believe) finish bleeding brakes, finish up wiring, build a wooden body, cut and buff paint, paint and install bumper, finish and install passenger outside mirror, install...
