Great pics! I love this kind of history. What is the car you're on?

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Thanks Gary, I'll see if we can make it. I take lousy pics. Techno idiot. I'm envious of Chris here and others that understand this stuff. It says McCormick-Deering on the radiator shell. Funny it's...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Chris, some fine looking mechanical work! A bit off topic but I know you like old tractors so I thought I'd share. There's a country style restaurant near me that's been there since 1970. This and...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

It's my opinion that the patina and slotted screws are perfect, as well as the walnut once it gets aged from sun and air exposure. Maybe a bit of hairsplitting regarding horizontal or vertical...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

I was wondering the same thing. A floor drain would be ideal, lest one would have to floor squeegee the over flow out side. I also recall in a previous post the radiant floor heat. A dream for a shop.

Respectfully, spray foam does not retain moisture, it sheds it as it glosses over when cured.

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

I would consider that if it were mine. I've used spray foam insulation numerous times. It can be cut with a utility knife and sanded relatively smooth as well as providing some structural integrity...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Chris,
If it were mine I'd leave it as is given your intention of use. Battle scars and patina are its charm. In my opinion a patch panel in primer would stick out like a sore thumb. Others may...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Chris,
Just a thought. Assuming one can remove the old glass without any or further damage you could always hang onto it. Heck, with all that wall area in your shop you could make some wood...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Chris,
Little that I know about mechanics I do know (from youthful experience) that an open vacuum line will cause rough running. As David G suggests plug it and see what happens. Your project has...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Nice job! I'm living vicariously through you wishing I had the skills, tools and knowledge to take on a project like yours. Next step is if you could actually dump a real load out of that old bed,...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

I believe the previous owner(s) did the right thing in preserving a bit of history by putting this truck in your hands. If I weren't some 3000 miles away I'd like to shake their hands and pet that...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

And radiant floor heating. What a dream that would be for me. If I have to be on concrete at least it should be warm. Please keep posting your progress.
