Re: 1962 Galaxie radio speaker connector

IT'S ALIVE!!!!

Had no time over the past 2 weeks until now but was able to add new connectors, plug everything together and do an op test.

My 1962 Galaxie AM radio works!

Probably adds...

Re: 1962 Galaxie radio speaker connector

There's a huge low-rider community here in San Diego. Sounds like I need to reach out to them. We share a lot of the same values. Chevy's are far more popular than Fords in that community but...

Re: 1962 Galaxie radio speaker connector

Dude! Now you're talking, man! What else could we add to a 60's car to make it really groovy? I seem to remember something called a color organ, different color lights for different frequencies of...

Re: Thank You, Ford Barners!

My Fords would not be in nearly as good shape as they are without easy access to Ford Barners. So much shared knowledge!

Re: 1962 Galaxie radio speaker connector

The one I'm talking about is plugged into the radio in the picture on the left hand side. I've got that same picture in my watch list in eBay, the $28.55 Galaxie radio.

Re: Spring removal and Columbia installation

Kube, Thanks. I can afford the best jack stands; not sure what those might be, so much cr@p made in Ch!n@. Not a Harbor Freight fan at all. Just don't know where else to go for jack stands. ...

Re: 1962 Galaxie radio speaker connector

So why go to all this trouble for an old radio? Because. Bought this groovy FM converter too just like someone might have done back in the day. I remember having one of these in high school...

Re: Spring removal and Columbia installation

Sounds good. That's the plan. Felt more comfortable with one wheel on the ground first time pulling a hub. I like "belt and suspenders" with jack stands (two each side.) Being under the car...

Re: 1962 Galaxie radio speaker connector

Yes. The one in the lower right hand side. The pins are 1/2" apart. Know where I can get one?

Re: Spring removal and Columbia installation

Borrowed a spring spreader and got started.

Took a last drive and topped off the tank with fresh gas.

Jacked up the driver's side of the car and removed the rear wheel and hub. Removed...

1962 Galaxie radio speaker connector

I'm trying to bring my original radio back to life. Just bought the car in December. Initial trouble shooting revealed that the wiring wasn't connected and the speaker was missing. My guess is...

Re: Spring removal and Columbia installation

I'm a tool junkie. Would love to be the proud owner of a multi-purpose Porta-Power rather than a single use Ford spring spreader. I see this...

Spring removal and Columbia installation

Decided to start installation of my Columbia today and have the 1941 installation instructions. Haven't even gone to the garage yet because I'm stuck on the first sentence, "Disassemble Ford axle as...

Re: New Eaton Spring or re-arch existing

Thanks for replying, that certainly makes one stop and think. Re-arching is looking better in comparison.

New Eaton Spring or re-arch existing

I believe the front spring on my 41 coupe is shot. It's not only flat but arches ever so slightly backwards and needs to be fixed. I've heard two opinions from multiple sources.

1. Just have...

Re: 1942 Ford deluxe coupe project

Thanks for all the recent posts. Winter is almost over.

I love the details like these '43 license plate tabs! When I go to a car show/cruise, what impresses me the most is the way people...

Re: 1937 distributor quizz question........

Thanks for the update. Put a check mark in the 'win' column. It's very satisfying getting these old cars to run right with original type parts. My experience is also "hit that starter button now...

Re: 1947 Super Deluxe V8 engine ground strap?

I had the same issue. Never knew if the car was going to start or not when it was warmed up. When someone pointed it out to me, I had a devil of a time finding the stud on the firewall. The wire...

Re: Third Gen Automotive

It's always a pleasure doing business with Third Gen. Stuff happens and you have to take care of first things first. Old cars aren't the most important thing in my life, never have been and never...

My first one too. Don't know what people like us did before the internet and the FordBarn.

Re: How far should I go with my '41 flathead

I'm with these guys. If you're only "pretty sure" the seal is leaking .... and "it's tough to quantify how much coming from where" that wouldn't be enough for me to pull the engine, much less...

Re: First inquiry and outline of my Flathead build journey

The best money you'll spend is getting a copy of the late John Lawson's book "Flathead Facts." He's done a large number of dyno runs with various combinations and documented and explained everything...
