I had the exact same problem when I replaced the water pumps on my V8 60 several years ago. Pumps rebuilt correctly with care, one leaked and one was fine. Had the pump out and in several times...

The side panels on my 38 look like the drivers side. Not sure how the other one would line up. I have seen them on e-bay, but not often, sorry.

I removed the sun visor and slipped a small rubber "O" ring on pushed it all the way to the end, reinstalled the sun visor. Works great.

On my 38 I used Gates #20626 for the lower hose. You need two and only use a small section, however, it worked good for me. Best of Luck CR.
