Re: I'm looking for some insight !

If you are financially able to do so without harm to your family, bequeath your antique cars to a younger member of your car club who will appreciate and care for them.

Re: Holey firewall, Batman!

I think #6 is the speedometer cable, but I'm not with my car, so I can't check. Don't weld it up yet!

Re: Sport Coupe Top Installation

There is an excellent article by Mary Moline which was published in The Restorer. It is reprinted in "How to Restore Your Model A," Volume 5. This article gives detailed, step-by-step instructions...

OK, no pressure or anything, but you’ve only got one week until the Mount Rogers tour!

Re: Removing Distributor

If you are going to continue to use the manifold heater, I would suggest you use the “modern” upper distributor plate with the condenser located inside the distributor. With that plate, you can...

Re: November-December 1929 produced 1930 model vehicles

The steering column support on the bottom of the fuel tank is a different length on the early 30's. I can't remember the lengths, or which is longer, but measure your column support and then compare...

Re: Starts with hand crank only

My coupe, 6 volt positive ground all stock, would only start when I let off the starter. New battery fixed it. It’s hard to understand that the battery is strong enough to spin the starter normally,...

Re: Rumbleseat Floor Mat

My grandfather bought his (now my) Sport Coupe in 1965. It did not have any studs in the floor pan. He bought a new Sears floor mat for the rumble seat, which is still there today lying as flat as it...

Re: The zip it rack

I have one of these (reproduction) on my 60B, which looks quite a bit like the photo in Brad’s ad. It was installed by the previous owner, so I don’t know where it was purchased, or when. I like it...

Re: distributor drive shaft

I had one that was stuck so tightly I could not get it out. The bottom of the distributor shaft was stuck to the top of the drive gear. I could pull the distributor up against the spring, but then...

Re: Are My Cowl and Hood correct?

The ‘28 and ‘29 Fordors (and the ‘29 cabriolet) have a smooth or rounded cowl which resembles the ‘30-‘31 cars. All of the other ‘28-‘29 body styles have the squared off cowls at the door pillar....

Re: Scotch Free Roller free wheeling device

“Only freewheeled under about 27MPH.” Ah, that makes sense. I was about 10 years old so I only drove on farm roads, and never got over 27 MPH!

Also, you could upshift without using the clutch...

Re: Scotch Free Roller free wheeling device

Now, it’s true my memory gets a little squirrelly, but here goes.

My grandfather had a 1954 Ford with a three speed manual transmission and overdrive. That car always free wheeled, unless you...

Re: Long shaft distributor

You can probably reach down in the distributor hole on your engine with needle nosed pliers and pick the lower shaft out of your engine. Sometimes it’s stuck too tight to pick out, but most of the...

Re: Foaming coolant under heavy load, bad head gasket?

I had a very small crack in a head that would not leak until the engine warmed up and the crack expanded. I think that sounds like what is happening with your engine. The solution was to replace the...

Re: Modern "New" Head Gasket...Opinion Please

Please double-check your fan. When my fan began hitting the hose clamp, it was because the fan was cracked, and it soon broke. I assume yours is hitting because you just re-installed it after the...

Re: Chasing a chirp

Try tightening the carburetor to intake manifold bolts. A leak there can make a chirping sound. If your carburetor surface is not flat, you may need a new, soft gasket and some sealer.
