Would you consider an LED replacement? I have a stock 41 6 V positive ground and just recently replaced the bulbs in the dash. The draw next to nothing for current mAmps

Regarding the 6 volt “system” I suggest bring the 6 volt ground directly to the engine block. And from the block go to the chassis.

Why do you want to go to 12v is a first question? If your intentions are to run an alternator and othe 12 volt devices then that makes perfect sense.

Here is the pic —-approx 2” stainless steel with a brass nipple welded to it for attaching to the heater hose. The hose I just cut at the halfway point removed approx 1 inch and clamped it in place.

Not sure but if you can’t get it to idle well there is a chance the advance mechanism in the distributor is jammed up.
