Hi Dick, yes this was the thumping sound. I am not 100% sure what caused this. Can anyone shed light if excessive end play on the crankshaft would cause failure or was it just the gears time to go ?...

Well, I removed inspection cover for the timing gear and she still looks good for an original gear. Not loose at all. So then I used a bar to see if the crank moved back and forth and yup she does....

Hi Jeff,
Just tried grounding each plug with NO difference in sound. Knock was still there. Might be time to drop the pan ?

On Friday afternoon I drove the Roadster a mile into town and she preformed flawlessly. When I was coming home I stopped at a set of lights and suddenly this now sound emerged. No difference in power...

A little more info,
Carb was rebuild and does not leak even if valve is left open.
Car has a new shut off valve even though the old valve was in good shape, and carb has the good needle valve from...

Shutting my Roadster off.

Met a fellow "A"er who jumped all over me for doing the following while shutting my Roadster down. Told me I would ruin the carb and wear out the fuel shut off valve and cause stress on the motor....

Hello,
Thought I had answered the pm but it didn't go through.
Yes I doubled up on the pieces to add in the easiness of installation. Adding some heat ( propane torch) assisted greatly.

I'm in this problem myself, plater wanted $1000 bucks a piece for the rears.
Stainless units are NOT in stock anywhere.
So I painted mine for now....
