I used an adapter in the Drake tank and Im very pleased . No problem. I did have to careful filing, to slightly enlarge the adapter . I think it was aprx $30

Blocked fuel line , blocked exhaust, wrong gas cap ( not vented ) bad coil or condenser, carb dumping fuel ( would have black exhaust)

Drive it . Enjoy . If you get into it ,itll end up being a complete rebuild . I say this cause youll see something else is out of spec and youll be looking at $2000-3000 plus a long downtime.

On the point of spark plugs . I use to clean , then just replace as I needed . I recently purchased a $25 tool - gadget, a 110 volt spark plug tester . It saved the day recently, had 8 new champion...

I use to buy surplus mail dispatcher jeeps just for the goodies , the front straight axle , the dana posi rear , steering column and wheel , shifter and e brake . All look the part for a 30-40 ford ....

If you’re bypassing the original fuel pump there’s only one other piece , the carburetor. I would suspect a powervalve or heavy float ( incorrect float level )
I would change the oil asap !

Is it possible that a distributor hold bolt is too long and just touching the cam gear ? Reason I ask , I just disassembled a 21 stud that I have had since the late 70s and it was obviously rebuilt...

There is a sheet metal lip on the body that allows the inner floor board to bolt to . Its raised lip is what was causing my short . It probably isn’t in as new shape and has twisted a bit in its...

Cant you cut another slot say at 180 degrees . If its not timing anything , Ive done this on a few shafts that were messed up .

You are still 6 v pos ground? Is the horn isolated and not making a complete circuit. Have you tried a cable from the horn body to the pos and a neg wire to the horn where the relay wire use to go ....

I just replaced my 41 tudor gas tank with one from Dennis Carpenter . Exact as original except for the sender . It takes an adapter to use the sender . Its got the sender on top in original location...
