Re: Rebuilding the houdaille shocks

I've rebuilt a multitude of them myself this past year. The ultrasonic cleaners work great on them as does letting them sit in an evaporust bath. It's amazing how many different variations I have...

Re: Mitchell overdrive

I ordered the O/D before I ended up with a Burtz Block. I've put about 1600 miles on the Block now and the O/D just arrived. If I had the block first, I most likely would not have gone the O/D route....

Re: Burtz Block - General Status Updates

The latest oil pump modification update makes it seem like the original is sufficient without the volume change, but it would still at the least require the relief valve installed. If you're having...

Re: In case you want to know the whole story, or an update

Hello Terry! Thanks for all of your time and what I consider an absolutely amazing product. I'd been quietly following your endeavor for quite some time and can't fathom the patience and dedication...

Re: In case you want to know the whole story, or an update

Based on the builders guide and what I've seen on the facebook group, I'd believe the vast majority of builders, both home-grown and professional, are performing very similar measurements or at least...

Re: In case you want to know the whole story, or an update

I had actually started doing that with my build. I'm a nobody with nothing on my youtube channel except some track day events, but I figured it'd be worth throwing out there. I did everything at home...

Re: In case you want to know the whole story, or an update

I hate to say it as a fan, but I don't know that video comes across any better or does you any favors. I think the biggest unresolved issue in all of this is that the manner by which at least some of...

Re: Mitchell Overdrive

I've been on the waitlist since the start of the year. I used to check-in every now and then to see how long the wait was going to be, but after the third time it was extended another 30 days, I...

Re: No Start, HELP

They're fairly straight forward circuits, so it's just a matter of isolating where the issue is. Assuming this is a 6V positive ground vehicle, I would start with the following.

- Disconnect both...

Re: This hobby is dieing

I'm a follower of your channel, also 38, and under 50 miles from you. I think you're pretty spot on -- I am definitely the youngest of the groups I've checked out and a lot of their events are at...

Re: Hello from Upstate NY with my 1930 Model A

This would suggest some manner of bad wiring either to the coil itself, or from the battery to ground.

If you're seeing less than 6 volts there or inconsistent voltage, I would check that you have...

Re: Hello from Upstate NY with my 1930 Model A

Gotcha. It sounds like something is not quite right on both sides of the coil.

The negative coil terminal should have a short, black wire that connects to the terminal block, typically on the...

Re: Hello from Upstate NY with my 1930 Model A

I'm sorry, I should have verified what type of ignition switch and wire you were using, is it an original pop-out switch ignition or a replacement switch? Is the wire you are using an original,...

Re: Hello from Upstate NY with my 1930 Model A

Is the vehicle still 6V, positive ground? Where exactly do you have the ignition switch wired into the distributor? It should either be wired to the brass tongue as you called it on the base plate...

Re: Autom. advance spark timing

That's exactly right. I had picked up a few different sets of plugs when I installed the unit along with the 6:1 head, as I was expecting the possibility of some trouble. I also have my ignition...

Re: Autom. advance spark timing

I have the device installed in my '31 coupe with a 6:1 head and run 93 (US rated) almost exclusively. I was a bit concerned that I would need to add some additional adjustability through the lever...

Re: 700 miles in a tired Model A

Amazing to see it made it despite all of the issues he ran into. I watch his channel all of the time and he has some good content of some antique stuff he picks up. Was glad to see a Model A make the...

Re: 1928 Model A Frame - What is this

Those are shocks. Often leak and non-functional... sometimes, but rarely, rebuildable.

Re: Looking for the rubber bushings that go on the front engine mount

I didn't see a way to get the pulley out with the radiator in place. I bought a new yoke along with all of the parts, so I'll be trying to cut out the existing yoke tomorrow. That should give me the...

Re: Looking for the rubber bushings that go on the front engine mount

I just went to replace my springs and such yesterday as I noticed it looked "flat" and didn't have a spring underneath the crossmember and I have bad vibrations -- then I discovered my setup was...

Re: Looking for the rubber bushings that go on the front engine mount

Does anyone have any advice on getting the replacement parts installed with the engine still in? I have one of those same designs on my engine, missing all of the rubber, that vibrates pretty bad. I...

Re: Front/Rear Lights,Brake Lights, and Horn Stopped Working

With an alternator typically the yellow wires are all connected together on the single alternator post. You should be able to get 6V there at all times in most configurations. I've found a handy...

Re: Front/Rear Lights,Brake Lights, and Horn Stopped Working

You'll want to check the yellow with black wire coming from the terminal box to the generator cut-out, and then the yellow wires coming from the generator cut-out to the horn / light switch.
