Re: Vacuum wiper motor
Thanks, Lawson.....that's what I needed to know; level of effort for proper operation.
(Already knew about the tomato but that's a good reminder, too!)

Re: Vacuum wiper motor
Thanks for this post discussion, fellas.
My '39 1-1/2 ton flatbed has the vacuum wiper motor. I removed it and, next time I started up the truck, heard quite a bit of vacuum noise going on at the...

Re: Oil pan removal (1939 1-1/2 ton)
Heh! Thanks for all the bright news!!! Srsly, 'preciate it.
I'm hoping that it's tall stance and nice ground clearance might make for an easier time but, while I was down there, it looked anything...

Oil pan removal (1939 1-1/2 ton)
So I got my hands on a 2" socket and a 3/4" drive breaker bar, sprayed some Liquid Wrench on the oil pan filler plug, tapped it, and with only a little tug got 'er spinning off. Carefully positioned...

Re: Lubrication
Well, see....that was just one worm's worth, not a whole can. That's really all I needed!

Re: Lubrication
Aight.....disregard my post then. Close it.
My initial boards search yielded nothing....a subsequent search yielded much more, including can o' worms references.
I think I've got enough...

Lubrication
So my 1939 1-1/2 ton flat bed is running nicely. Thought it a good idea to change the oil, etc. Took it to a local Jiffy-Lube; they didn't have a socket wrench big enough to fit that big oil pan...

Appropriate flatbed material?
My '39 1-½ ton flatbed has a srsly dried out bed. It's sound enough but looks so dry. Appears to be a tongue-in-groove material but can't tell what species of wood. Half thinking of giving it a...

Re: 1939 Truck rear axle question
Have the beast back.....that lever on the left is, indeed, for a 2-speed rear axle! It's a solid linkage, not a cable. The e-brake cable crosses over it on the way to the back end.
The high speed is...

Era-appropriate font
Have been having some work done on my '39 1-½ ton flatbed and it's time to pick it up from the shop. One of the next steps is to repaint it. Going to use it, very occasionally, in the business,...

Re: 1939 Truck rear axle question
Thanks, fellas.
Bob, The truck is off-site at the moment and we're having an unusual (for these parts, believe it or not) spring snow. I'll have a look-see and compare it to your picture. Thanks...
