I don't know about the earlier gauges, but 48-on can be adjusted. Adjustments must be VERY small or the gauge will go crazy. One adjusts Zero, the other readings. According to the 48-51 Truck manual,...

Not just 4 wheels, but should have 2 horizontal legs. Some have a single leg with two wheels on a cross-piece at the end. Not nearly as stable. If you are going to be hammering on lifters and pistons...

I would not buy a Speedway radiator, check out Champion. Many cheap aluminum radiators have epoxied tubes, totally unrepairable.

220 on the heads seems awful high to me. I took these readings...

It's a bad design, no question, but it is mostly the techs using high-powered impacts with worn, sloppy-fitting sockets. I can't blame them for using the big guns, with aluminum wheels run in salty...

Even with the pumps out, with the engine in the frame, the 3 slope to the rear keeps some at the back. Need to lower the front to get it all.

My truck (with Car heater) lists at 22 qts, I've never gotten more than 18 - 19 in, even with a dry block (after rebuild).

Electric pumps are good pushers but poor suckers. Sounds like the loop over the axle is the problem here.

The saying, "Fix it once and fix it right" comes to mind. After spending the money on a rebuild, I wouldn't be knocking metal particles into my engine.

From what I've seen and heard, expect to need to do some metalworking to make the new piece work. Saw one that was 1/2" different where it joined the firewall section.

The way these gauges work is by heating coils wrapped around a bimetallic strip. Over time, the strips seem to lose their full range of motion. Only solution is to replace the gauge when that happens.

You can check the frame using a tape measure to check diagonals, from left-front to right-rear and vice versa. Set the frame on jack stands and measure off the floor at front...

Ditto the comments on idle below 13:1, but that is also with a carb, where the idle system is in play for a good bit above idle.

I'm running an MSD ready-to-run distributor with manifold vacuum...

It shocks me how many people are putting 100+ amp 10Si's on vehicles that got by with a 30 amp generator. I don't get it. These are mostly stock vehicles, too. More is not always better.

I use a piece of 1"x1" angle iron with a hole, that catches a tooth on the ring gear. Works for removal, too.

I'm wondering if this car has a Speedway adapter for the T5? I have heard many times of issues with clutch components scraping on these adapters. Usually just a little grinding needed to clear.
