Well, clutches have to slip a bit depending on what anyone thinks is a slip. But, slippage rarely occurs in lower gears. The clutch really has to be bad to do that. The usual way to find a slipper is...

Hmm, remove the inspection cover and take a look.
See how far the pedal has to be pushed before the bearing contacts a finger. I know you said 1.5". Look to see if all the fingers are contacted at...
