Re: Off topic. Remember TV show Columbo?

I actually drove a Peugeot 403 my last year in high school ('64-'65), a sedan (not a ragtop)-nice little car when it ran, albeit gutless. 4 on the tree, sunroof. Definitely the oddball car at my...

Re: Cheap bias ply tires ?

I have Excelsior 6.50-16 on my '36, see this old post of mine:

https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=326506

I continue to be very happy with these, pretty much identical to the Coker...

Re: Engine Swap

Further to what Bored and Stroked suggested, this is an old post of mine from last fall about low oil pressure on the poured bearing motor in my '36 pickup:

Re: Tire purchase for 36 pickup

I waited it out for the back-ordered Excelsior bias ply tires for my '36 pickup and recently put them on (6.00-16 front, 6.50-16 rear on wide five wheels)-see my recent post "For bias-ply guys". Like...

CleanSweepWiperMotors, excellent service!

I just wanted to comment on the excellent service by Melissa Klein of Clean Sweep Wiper Motor Service in Redmond OR. I sent her the leaking/non-functioning Trico vacuum wiper from my '36 pickup...

For bias-ply guys

I recently decided to replace the Firestone (Coker) 6.00-16 bias ply tires on my '36 pickup, which were aging out after 10 years-particularly since I drive on the freeway regularly. I've been very...

Re: 7-1/2 years later…my project is done.

Nice to see a truck that looks like a real working truck. Great job!

Re: 38 PU at Work.

I'm with you Phil, I've always thought of my '36 truck as a working vehicle. Never could understand people who tart these old workhorses up with white wall tires and flawless paint. See also the...

Re: Charlie NY says hello ALL

x3 Tubman. Jumped into my truck for a 70 mile drive yesterday and it occurred to me that I didn't even give a thought to it not starting or running well, in part down to NY Charlie's setting up the...

Re: Colorado Rockies to Pike's Peak Mid-winter Road Trip

Inspirational, thank you! So good to see a vintage car used as intended, rather than be a static, spotless Garage Queen

Re: Experience with Coker Excelsior 6.00-16 tires?

Coker responded to me RE their Excelsior vs Firestone bias ply tires, saying the Excelsior should run the same as the Firestone on the freeway, no specific word about quality issues although I didn't...

Re: Experience with Coker Excelsior 6.00-16 tires?

I haven't had any problem with the Coker bias ply Firestones being out of round but as I said they are now ageing out, perhaps the more recent examples aren't as good? I did have tires shaved in the...

Re: Experience with Coker Excelsior 6.00-16 tires?

34Fordy, I did see those dates on the Jeg's site. I'm certainly willing to wait, if these tires are actually going to be available and of decent quality.

Re: At least it has a ford engine in it !

Congrats! Great cars, is it a 260 or 289? The 289 is really a wonderful motor, we have one in our '65 Mustang. Nice that Tigers have the smaller tail fins of the later Alpine bodies

Experience with Coker Excelsior 6.00-16 tires?

I currently have bias ply Firestone 6.00-16 tires on my '36 pickup, these have been very satisfactory but are ageing out. I see that Coker lists the Firestone 6.00-16 at $241, but also has an...

Re: A new thread!! Firestone Bias Ply Tires

I'm inclined to agree with OldGold360 about bias ply tires. I put a set of Coker classic-look radials on my '36 pickup, which has an entirely stock suspension; after a seemingly never-ending series...

Re: Ken Isadore has passed away

Sorry to hear this, I had a couple of nice conversations with him. Once I mentioned that the leather tip of the vacuum retard on my distributor had worn out, he immediately sent me ten of them,...

fan belt alternative for 21-stud motor

I've been using 5L560 fan belts from NAPA for my '36 pickup with a stock poured bearing 21 stud motor, but noticed the life span didn't seen to be very good, they seemed to stretch out and start...

Re: Flathead Books 1935 21 Stud

Dennis, there's some useful information in this book by Ron Bishop, directed more towards a stock rebuild
