Re: 40-41 pickup bed

'38 - '41 should be the same. Here is my '38.

The top board is 3" wide for both the front and the rear.
The bottom front block is 3-5/8" wide.
The bottom rear block is 3 1/4" wide.

Front...

Re: 40 Pickup Bed floor kit

If the existing wood is sound why not just refinish it or maybe flip it over? That said you can't do any better than Bruce Horkey. He's been doing truck beds for a long time.

Re: Hagerty Roadside Asssitance

Lets see, lower premium for the collector vehicle and all my modern vehicles policies already have roadside assistance. Seems like a win win to me.

Re: Speedometer for 46 Ford Car

I agree! Not familiar with your exact speedo but you would have to remove the SS trim to get the glass off hopefully without breaking anything. Then you would have to pull the needle off before you...

Re: Picture of 38 pickup guages

Its my understanding that the 1938 pickup used the same gauges as the std 1937. This is also what was in my original '38 pickup. The '39 gauges are brown and very different. Here is a photo of two...

Re: 35/36 Pickup Seat Base

My drawing was done fast to help another pickup owner. I probably should do a better scaled one to have on hand. I have seen several different seat bases out there with minor differences and I wonder...

Re: 35/36 Pickup Seat Base

Here is a sketch for the plywood seat bottom that was original to my 1938 pickup. Maybe someone could compare it to their earlier model to see if they are the same.

Re: Fender stuff - '35 pickup

I believe its just "body to frame webbing". It comes in different widths. You should be able to buy it from any of the old Ford parts dealers.

Re: When did Ford change from crankshaft slingers to seals?

Same here. My 59A had a slinger that I became aware of when I tilted the motor during removal and oil poured out the back. Surprise! I had thought it would be easier to drain the crankcase once it...

Re: Clutch won’t release

Back in the day a common practice was to push the front bumper up tight to a stout tree and then with the clutch pedal depressed try to start it in gear .

Re: Clutch won’t release

I'd guess that the disc is rusted to the flywheel and/or pressure plate so it won't release.

Re: 1939 clutch pedal return stop

That and the pedal bumpers. The floor board has to be installed to adjust clutch.

Re: Need help ftting rear glass? 39 truck

Inside the cab there is a metal rear window surround trim that screws down and compresses the thin window glass gasket. This holds the glass in place on the '38 and '39 trucks. There is no metal...

Re: Need help ftting rear glass? 39 truck

The glass is set into a rubber gasket and then the interior trim holds it all in place.

Re: '38 Pickup Hood Hinges

Check eBay for 1938 or 1939 Ford pickup hinges. The car hinges are not the same. When you see the prices you will want to look again for the old ones.

Re: DRO recommendations (or not)

Igauging sells a AC adaptor (wall wart). That's what I use on mine. Much better than Batts.

Re: Tailgate Hook Retaining Springs

No issues with your work Kube, I was just wondering if they all came that way or if it was an option. I wonder why they are not seen more often now?

Re: Tailgate Hook Retaining Springs

Were those stock from the factory? I've looked at a lot of pickup but can't say I've ever seen them before.
