Do not put to long a bolt in that hole as it is a blind hole and you can punch out the bottom in to the water jacket and get a leak Bolt 20420 S 7/16-14 X1 3/16 Ford made there own bolts so often...

One of the benefits of modern oils is the detergents that keep dirt in suspension until removed by the filter. But with no filter I would run non detergent oil and change more often.
