Re: Need a referrence
One thing they don't tell you, is if you use F1 shock mounts in the manner described in the book, and decide to put your headlights on the same mount, is that they will bounce around so much that...

Re: 97/48
Did some research on this car and it topped 250 mph in 1952( with only two flatheads), and was retired in 1957 when it reached a top speed of 270 mph.

Re: Ford or Mercury Engine?
There is a 47 Merc truck here, I looked at it close and it appears to have a Ford engine. Of course it could have been changed. On another note, I've sen a lot of Merc engines in heavy duty trucks...

Re: lower radiator hose
Got a part number for those?
The Carquest ones I have work good, but make sure your belt is tight, mine got a little loose and the slop was just enough to start cutting into the bottom hose.
Not a...

Re: Swap Meet, Alameda, CA October 24th
Man, I sure do miss going to swap meets. There aren't any here, and not enough old Ford folks to have one. And I just can't see spending $$$$ in air fare just to go to one. I love seeing the pictures...

Re: 97/48
Wow! Three flatheads, I'll bet that was something to see it run.

Re: lower radiator hose
Carquest 21236 radiator hose, it is a moulded hose, and it has a spot in it that has the right jog. Just cut off the part you need. Worked great for my AV8.

Re: Painting cast head

Re: A-V8 steering caster
37-41 bones will work just fine for an AV8. I have them on mine. Welded seam to the top mines set at 6.6 degrees caster.
Model a crossmember in a 32 frame. I canted it back a few degrees before...

Re: Truck based woody
Mock ups are good, gives you an idea of what the end result will look like. And this one looks like it will turn out great!

Re: Hot Rod
Pretty neat! I remember some of those cars from when I was a kid. I'm sure I built more than one of them as a model.

Re: Winter storage - X rodents
What you need is a good mouser!
I had a Persian that would bring home every shrew, mouse, bird and the occasional snowshoe hare. Now that he's gone their taking over again.

I did just the opposite, I took 37 rear bones and shortened them to match the 15 or so inches I had to remove to get the 37 torque tube to fit the 32 frame.
And if you've ever cut a torque tube in...
