Re: Safe To Drive.....?

If you have end play on your crank, checked by watching the front pulley move while someone steps on the clutch, then tighten bearings probably won’t help. Shouldn’t be more than 4 or 5 thou. I’ve...

Re: steering

Is it your front end? Do you feel it thru the steering wheel? Does a bump or braking set it off? Or are you talking about a vibration?

Re: I guess I am a Model A person

If you “ restore” or “repair” the assemblies on a model A correctly, with good workmanship, they are a good reliable car that seldom gives you trouble. Many cars I see break down on tours, have hob...

Re: Tech help with model A cabin space.

The only things I e ever heard of are reduced seat cushions and shortened package shelf. If you had a tudor, it’s easy to move the seat back as far as you want.

Re: Worn-out Distributer Cap Carbon Brush

I would think Brass particles are from the rotor or body terminals. You need to “ with no side play” on your rotor shaft, set the gap to around .025” on all four body tits. Also check to make sure...

Re: Generator short?

You could have a”rubbed” wire somewhere in your open wiring harness that’s just clipped to the frame. I actually prevented a short by noticing a frayed wire rubbing on the frame in the left side of...

Re: Driving in 110 degree heat

That’s a great idea, but won’t work so well at a loooong traffic light.

Re: Interesting Comments about you Ride

I have the original tail lights and brake lights on my tudor, I was driving down PAC Highway, which is a four-lane road, at a traffic lite, this guy in an old ratty El Camino pulls up alongside me,...

Re: growling noise

Have someone stand outside our car and see if you can verify noise location. I think you need to. verify location and if the rear end quit driving and repair before more damage is done.

Re: Compression

5.2 is correct. I’m guessing 65# most important is they’re within 5# or so of each other.

Re: Engine tap tap tap

A weak cam spring will do that. You need a listening device to pin point the area the noise is coming from.

Re: Water Pump Leak

They sell a retainer that when installed, you can’t see, that stops the in and out movement caused from the wear on the tit inside the head.

Re: Fuel/air mixture setting

Re: To Fast Idle

I’m not sure what that post meant? Did the gasket fix it? You could check for whether the throttle linkage allows the plate shaft to hit the idle stop. It’s not unusual to have bent linkage.
