Re: BRILLIANCE...Gas Powered, Honda Charged Tessla

Worse than the gas generator are the coal burning power plants that powers the Tesla battery charger stations. Electric cars make no sense for saving the environment as long as power plants burn...

Re: Quick Rope Seal Question

The "no trim" instruction would apply, but not to the absurd. I got a rope that had to be trimmed by more than an inch. Can't tell you about an 8BA, that modern stuff is all Greek to me.

Re: Parts Unknown

I doubt the wrench is a lug wrench due to the short handle. The condenser and the switch are both aftermarket items, and are clearly identified on the boxes.

Re: Driveline assyembly sequence

In my view, as the driveline has been shortened and modified, I’d want to verify required dimensions mating up to a temporary engine/tranny installation before possibly finding bad news during final...

Re: Ford Script Battery

It would be cleaner, for sure! Gutting an old case is a dirty job, but not difficult at all.

Re: Ford Script Battery

Jay, next time, use a small rubber hobby roller: Perfect results, and may well have been the factory method anyway.

Re: Ford Script Battery

Your original battery would have been a 2HF, which does accept the taller Optima battery as supplied these days. Just buy the battery and reuse your Ford Script case.

Re: Cosidering juice brakes

Strong opinions on the subject, which is very understandable as there are as many horror stories as there are success stories on both cable and juice. Old Henry was forced to give in and go hydraulic...

Re: Cosidering juice brakes

Well, it sounds like your only cable brake experience was a shrug of your shoulders as you removed them to obey your father. Many of us have known both mechanical and juice brakes, and do speak with...

Re: 1939 Ford sedan horn/light switch..?

They are usually caked with oil/dirt on the outside. The inside should remain clean.

Re: 1938 Radio Removal

To me, listening to music while driving a Ford Flathead just doesn't make any sense unless it is scratchy with static, and hums like an authentic old car radio should. Twisting the tuner squee-squaaw...

Re: Fuel pump push rods

No. The machined surface is at the same position. The term "raised surface" is misleading.

Re: Stock 1935 Aluminum Head Virtues???

The salesman’s handbook was written by salesmen, not engineers. Half truths are the tools of salesmen, so consider the source. The maintenance issues caused by electrolysis was likely a major reason...

Re: Q: 1934 Ford Pinstrping stencil body line

I’ll walk back my statement to agree that not everyone could make the cut as a striper, but then, to stripe a Ford is a craft not an art, and practice can make a craftsman out of many if not most...

Re: Q: 1934 Ford Pinstrping stencil body line

I fail to appreciate taping a pinstripe. If it were me that couldn’t find a striper, I would take great pride in learning to stripe my own car as it was done originally. The brushes and paint are...

Re: Spring Shackles

I have to agree with Pete, delryn is better than nylon, and should last 100,000 miles as compared to only 50,000 miles for nylon. My Speedway nylon shackles have only about 20,000 miles on them, so I...

Re: 32 frame

That's so fantastic! So much to learn about the '32 Ford that is so unique to that year.

Not to hijack the thread, but this particular piece of history puts me in mind of a WWII Jeep on Guam...

Re: 59ab oil pressure sending unit

All 80 lb senders are marked 80 on the bottom. 50 lb senders may be marked 50, or not marked at all.

Re: Speaking of Air Filters

Mike, the kicker is the decal. You just donít find them in that beautiful condition. This would be a find for someone with a Rouge car, and thatís where the value is.

Re: Perhaps Another "Dumb" Question

Cool coupe, long story here. Heat risers help vaporize the fuel when the engine is cold. Makes for a quicker warmup. A side effect of these heat risers is that they connect the two exhaust systems...

Re: Speaking of Air Filters

Your air cleaner is indeed a '39 model, manufactured by Oakes Products, who supplied this design from February 1939 through 1941.
