Re: Contaminated Engine Oil - Milky shade to Crankcase oil

I would think that if you still have "Milk Shake Like Oil", take note of water level in radiator AND oil level on dip-stick. Let the car sit for a few days....then check the water level in the...

Re: Rear wheels turn different RPM

OR......... You could watch the movie "My Cousin Vinny" which explains it all. Those of you that have seen the movie know what I'm talking about.
I still laugh after seeing it a thousand times.

Re: Snyder's Head Gasket Recommendations or Feedback?

No, there's no sign of any red silicon and I could not find any Manufacturers name or part number on it either.

Re: Snyder's Head Gasket Recommendations or Feedback?

I'm not sure what type. It's not copper and needs to be wiped clean to see if there is any manufacture's printing on it. I'll have to post later what I find out.

Re: Snyder's Head Gasket Recommendations or Feedback?

Yes, I've already taken the head off to have a look and the Head Gasket definitely had lost its integrity and needed to be replaced.

I keep my Model A in the garage so I know it's not rain...

Snyder's Head Gasket Recommendations or Feedback?

I found water in my oil (fortunately before starting it). Looks like I need to change the Head Gasket. So I'm going to drop the Oil Pan and clean it out, swab the bottom end while the Oil Pan is...

Re: stock paint colors

I agree with "rip"......Kewanee Green or Elkpoint Green. I don't know the paint code numbers. But try the Kewanee Green on this site and compare.

Re: Want to change steering wheel of my 1931

Yeah, I don't know the dimensions of the taper on the Model A steering column, either. I was just going by the years that it said it would fit. And the picture showed a slot for the "woodruff key".

Re: Want to change steering wheel of my 1931

I don't know if the 50's style steering wheels use the '60s and '70s 3-hole mounting methods or not, but this adapter might work for you.

Re: Model A Club de Mexico

"De nada" (Spanish slang for "you're welcome").

The numbers were for the "Rally" that went along with the show. Every car had a number on the doors. The cars varied from Mustangs to...

Model A Club de Mexico

My job as an Airline Captain takes me to Mexico every so often. Last week I happened to be there when there was a "car show" taking place and there were a few Model A's there. Pretty Cool.

Re: 29 A turns over won't start

Bad Ammeter, maybe? Or wiring to the ammeter.

Just as a starting point, I'd try connecting a wire between the two posts on the junction box (jumper wire bypassing the ammeter) and then see if...

Re: I am so overwhelmed !!!

I know it doesn't feel like it now, but you're at the FUN STAGE of your project. I think it was the Les Andrews' Volume One Book that had the diagrams of what body blocks go where with what...

Re: NY Times on the demise of the automotive cult

It seems (to me) that the "Love Affair with the Automobile" is over for most of the public. Cars have become just another appliance for most people. Look at how they drive their cars as if they...

Re: Suggestion On How To Get The Body Onto The Frame

I used a "come-along" connected by a chain wrapped around the rafters of my garage to get the body suspended high enough and then used the concrete blocks with 4x4's to hold it up to roll the chassis...

Need a little help with Rear Main Leak

I'm resurrecting my family's Model A and the engine has a "bad" Rear Main Leak. I don't know the "full" history of the engine so I don't know if it has Babbitt Bearings or Insert Bearings.

Re: Gas pedal bracket

If you put 3 different brackets on and all had the same result, I would suspect an installation problem or a "type" of bracket problem and wouldn't start bending anything yet.

My first guess...

How can you identify the louvers as "early '28" louvers?
I'm still learning things about Model A's.

Re: 1928 no spark out of coil

To answer this question you'll need an OHM meter or a Multi-meter that can measure Ohms which is the "Greek Omega symbol" or the "Horse Shoe" looking symbol.

To test the "primary side"....put one...

I should have clarified that it shows a 4 amp charge with the battery disconnected AND the engine is not running. I get a 20 amp charge with the engine running and high idle. I would not even...
