Re: Early '28 Model A - possible AR?

The politically correct term nowadays is E28. Brent doesn't define what DOES make an E28. I would think it is the brake system where the handbrake operates the same linkage as the footbrake. This...

Re: 6 volt LED headlights

I have LEDs in my VW camper and they focus perfectly. I also have them in my 35 coupe and can't see the difference in focus on the back wall of the garage, but I have yet to go out on the road...

Re: Stromberg e fire distributor

Worked fine for me once the engine was running, but I had starting problems on 6volt. I think the starter was causing voltage drop so the unit wouldn't energise. Gone back to a helmet.

Re: Anyone fitted a rear gas tank?

I'm not trying to make my A safe, just not quite so hazardous. The belly tanks don't work with original brakes. A rear tank just behind the axle like in my V8 wouldn't spill gas in my lap. I'm...

Anyone fitted a rear gas tank?

There was a horrific accident here last year when 2 men burnt to death in a 1930 coupe - the gas tank ruptured in a head-on collision. I have always worried about 10 galls of gas above my knees, and...

Re: '28 RPU width

Just looked at my 28 RPU project, I get 49.25" inside measurement between the brackets.

Re: 35 Tudor New Fuel Tank

Wish my tank had a breather, get terrible splashback problems when filling. Better folk than I will advise on gauges: the original use a different system to the modern replacement. I have an...

Re: 40 banjo question

I find a stock Ford seems fine until you fit a panhard rod and discover that potholes no longer make the car dart across the road. Don't cut off the bracket until you've found out whether you can...

Re: Brake Adjustment 1936 Mechanical

Our UK annual safety check requires a rolling-road brake test. First time I thought I'd done the adjustment procedure correctly, but the tester said 'You have no front brakes at all!'. If you can...

Re: My 1935 Convertible Sedan died on the road

My 35 coupe suffered fuel vapourising because the original routing of the fuel line ran very near the exhaust. The gas coming into the fuel pump should be cold, on a summer day mine was lukewarm. ...

Re: Pacemakers and Model A ignition systems

I have a MRI safe Medtronics pacemaker. I've been told it's safe to weld with low current but haven't tried it yet. I've had no problems being around unshielded ignition like my Model T.

Re: "28 Truck Bed Wood Sill demensions.

My apologies: I thought I had a couple of these rails but do not. When I rebuilt my bed I bought replacements for most of the parts that were rusted out from Mike's Afordable, including wood...

Re: "28 Truck Bed Wood Sill demensions.

Are we talking pickup on the car chassis, or AA truck? By sill, do you mean the wooden bearer that sits on the frame and supports the bed? I can give you that from my RPU.

Re: Speedometer Calibration

Any chance of doing a Speedo 101 class? I have one which runs 5mph slow at 40mph ( cost me 90 to find that out when I passed a camera!). I'd like to know how to fix it without sending it away.

Re: Anyone restored a E28/AR RPU?

Still no luck finding a plant code, but I measured the old bed side rails v. the new repros - 1/2" difference, and , of course the difference in shape.

Gas tank anti- squeak

With all the stuff I bought for my 28 rpu is a roll of gas tank anti- squeak. I assume this goes between the tank and the quarter panels. Does it also go across the firewall?

Re: Anyone restored a E28/AR RPU?

Drawn a blank on a quick look on the body crossmember for assembly plant code. I'll have another careful look tomorrow.

This car was/is badly rusted, I could only read the first 2 digits on the...

Re: Anyone restored a E28/AR RPU?

I only used AR in my header cos not everyone has got on board with E28. My bed is not longer, I have bought repro side panels which match my originals. The only mismatch was the bottom rail not...

I could do with a decent grommet but couldn't find GR3 on their website.

Re: 32 Model Y in France

That is an early one, not as early as the one in the ad. Later cars had a longer grille with the crank hole going through rather than below it. Nice cabriolet body, don't think it's factory body.
