These cars have been going fine for nearly a 100 years, without a temp gauge. Why would you want a temp gauge and where would you place the gauge?

You don’t want to drive it full of oil.
Quarter is just fine, the higher the oil level, the more chance of it leaking out the rear main. And if you must park on a hill, park nose down...
