Re: Clayborne Update !!!

The large diameter end, are they going to be machined out of one piece like the other shop was saying or will they be fabricated?

Re: Bob Drake fuel sending unit / customer service

Re: Bob Drake fuel sending unit / customer service

I found the best solution to Bod Drake and his gas tanks was to just buy tanks from Tank Inc. The only problem i have had with Tanks Inc was done by the shipping company and it was minimal.

Re: 40 Ford wheels

Because....40 is 4" wide and if your lucky and find 40 v8-60 they are 3-1/2" wide.

All others 4-1/2" wide and some were 5" wide

Has to do with skinny tires and the right look

As far as...

Re: Steering wheel shim

Everything you did you mentioned was done years ago.

How old are the tires then getting them balanced would be the easiest thing to do first and rule out.

Potholes and curbs.

Worn out parts...

Looking for either the correct rubber bumper, ones that could be made to work or even bobo generic ones that could work.

I only have one that survived, believe it takes 5 of them. Think they are...

Re: Opinion please

37 is more popular, but i would rather have a 38 standard coupe and only a coupe.....things like the rear fenders, trim, hood and grill.... 38 deluxe is just a parts car to me.

Re: Their still out there

Made me laugh when he said "looks like original paint" and " back seat is out of it". I like the 57 chevy 12v generator.

Re: 1940 Pickup Front Fender Bracket hole Location

5/16" square for a carriage bolt. Its usually booged up on 40-41 cabs from wear tear and accidents. I have re- enforced it in the past because the square on the carriage bolt is thicker then the...

Re: Measuring for torque tube shortening

I like to use the 37 to 40 . With the carrier bearing it gives a nice true surface to dial the shaft in with a 4 jaw chuck.

The torque tube flange i cut off long and machine a register to fit back...

Re: Measuring for torque tube shortening

Just remember to deduct for the pinion and coupler. Dont make the drive shaft the same length as the torque tube.

Re: USPS damage in shipping

Wonder were all the packages ended up in that nasty ice storm accident in Texas last week. Looked like a FedEx truck on top of the pile. Does the cargo get impounded?

I also noticed that the slotted indexing holes varied , some have a few like the one at the...

Re: Clayborne engine overhaul stand attachments maybe available

Is that found on an original front fixture?

If so, can you tell if it was made from a rolled piece of flatbar and welded together?

Re: Clayborne engine overhaul stand attachments maybe available

Timing gear is roughly 6-5/8"
Roll a 7" ID ring out of 1/4" flatbar then true it up in a lathe i think would be more economical.

Re: Clayborne engine overhaul stand attachments maybe available

Inside of the yoke is 7-1/2".

ID of the adapter has to be big enough for the cam gear to clear.

7" schedule 40 pipe is 7.625 OD / .301 wall. Schedule 80.is .500

I have a short piece of 7"...

Re: Clayborne engine overhaul stand attachments maybe available

Cheaper to roll a band then wrap the edges with 3/8" square. Atleast thats the way im making mine. Simple enough to chuck it up in the lathe and true it up for those high speed rotations.

How...
