I have seen several Model A engines in Pietenpol Airplanes that have that same modification. Since the engine is mounted back to front my assumption is that it compensates cooling at that pinch...

I heard a similar story at the National MARC meet held in Rochester, NY years back. Some one driving to the event had a bearing fail and he cut a new bearing from his belt and drove it to the meet...

Good advice from Mike... Another method for unsticking the bendix from the flywheel is to put the car into 3rd gear and rock the car back and forth until the bendix snaps back....

Later on at a Fly In Breakfast at the Beloit Airport the airplane owner asked me to pose my 1928 Woody Huckster with his airplane. It is awfully hard to say no to a photo op like this....

I just finished building this 1928 Woody Huckster and took it out for it's first public event. It was a Wings and Wheels Event at the Poplar Grove Airport and I ran into this Pientenpol aircraft...

After plug removal and oiling up all of the cylinders with Marvel Mystery Oil, release emergency brake and put the A into 3rd gear. By rocking the car back and forth will often break the engine...

What brand spark plugs are in use? All with the correct gap? The correct heat range type of plug? Do a compression check on all cylinders to see if they are all close to each other.
