cowl band question

'30 fodor.......should there be any kind of welting/gasket strip under the cowl band or does it mount metal to metal?

Cannot seem to solve the gas seepage from the gasket on my carb. Have put straight edge on surfaces and they appear not to be warped, cleaned them with emory and replaced gasket twice......still...

So....in the case of my car, the answer is "yes" the fender lip does fit up into the space between the body and frame.....and its not a horrible job to make that happen. Now, the question is, does...

Installing front fenders on '30 Fodor. is there part of the fender lip that has to fit between the body and the frame like the lip of the splash apron?

so the answer is that they connect to the same post on the alternator as the yellow/black wire from the terminal box?

The double yellow wires coming from the light swithch which normally connect to the cutout.......what do you do with them if you have an alternator instead of generator?

is it possible to replace the cork float without removing the whole gauge....ie, bending wire arm enough to get float off and putting new cork on then "unbending" the wire arm?

speedo cable lubrication??

putting my '30 fordor back together now after a llooonnnngggg hietus. speedometer was working ok when dismantled. should i lubricate the cable somehow or just leave it alone?
