Re: 53 with automatic

Thanks everyone. It sure helps - although I've been playing with old Fords all my life I have never dealt with the air cooled automatic trans. Sounds like it should not be a deal breaker but needs...

Re: 53 with automatic

Talked with the seller quite a bit yesterday and he said the transmission was overhauled a year ago mainly to stop leaks. He noted that he usually drives the car only at 35 or 40 mph. My 51 would...

53 with automatic

I'm looking at a very nice solid 53 Victoria with an automatic transmission. I have had several 3sp manual fords over the years including a 51 but never an automatic. I was wondering what some of the...

Re: Locating dimple on timing gear

I have a friend who was having trouble finding the dimple on the timing gear with the probe. He had a Harbor Freight cheap borescope or whatever they are called. Put the probe end in the timing...

Re: Idle speed with a MAX-1

Ron

I really do not think that cam affects idle very much. As I mentioned I have a Bubba Chevy distributor (8BA) with only mechanical advance. I started setting the timing with the pointer right...

I have a very similar setup to your engine but with original heads milled .050, 94 carb and an all mechanical chevy distributor (Bubba's). Mine will idle at 450 with no problem. I do have quite a...

I used Mike Bishop and Vern Tardel's book as a guide in building my 29 AV8. I did use a 1951 8BA and got it to fit but agree a 59 series block would be easier. Made up a 39 trans from about five...

Re: banjo toqure tube
