Re: 1939 ford deluxe Grille

The early grille trim strips had the rounded lower ends on #10 and #11.
The later ones were pointed.
Also it seems there were some REAL short #11's with the rounded lower end.
And just to...

Argentina was RHD until about 1946.
Also Uruguay changed around the same time.
They would have been originally supplied with 1941 RHD dashboards from Ford along with the UK, South Africa ,...

Re: Aug/Sept project 2 to make 1 39 std cpe on sdn pan

I would not separate both cars at their pillars.
Cut out the sedan floor and install it in the coupe.
It will then retain much more of it's originality.
Sedan and coupe rear floor sections are way...

Re: 39 deluxe hood arm and spring support

1939 Fords in NZ were pretty much sourced from USA made parts except for the engines ( which were cast in Canada ) and the RHD parts.
Windsor Ontario is only across the river from Detroit.

Re: 1938 std coupe hood adjustment

1/4" is the correct size bolts for the front 2.
This may help.
A lot of folk use 5/16" bolts which gives little room for up and down adjustment.

Re: I am hiding in my garage from my wife

My father used to say that married men didn't live longer than single men - it just seemed longer.

Re: How rare is a 39 Mercury?

I had a nice original 1939 Mercury fordor sedan with original leather interior back in 1966 at the age of 20.
I had already owned a 39 std fordor sedan.
The interior of the Mercury was wider, the...

Re: 59a Main bearings replacements

As far as the postal service is concerned there wouldn't be too much difference in shipping from either Sweden or the USA to NZ.

Re: 39 ford

Sometimes the arms tend to catch through the slots.
You can feel them under the dash.
Also some WD40 or similar may help lubricate the crank mechanism - again probably need to do it from under the...

Re: 1939 ford deluxe air cleaner

I had a 39 standard in 1965 but can't remember what it had.
The 39 deluxe glove box reference book shows the dry type on pages 13 and 29.

Re: 1939 ford deluxe air cleaner

I remember back in the 60's most late 30's Ford V8's ( mainly 37's and 38's ) seemed to have the dry type air cleaner.
The oil bath type was available also I believe.

Re: Houston Texas,

Pity the Jerry J. Moore Museum has closed down.
I was there in the late 1980's.
A the time it was supposed to have had the largest collection of Duesenbergs outside the ACD Museum in Indiana.

Re: 1937 Flathead lost bolt... Help!

A bit like the old lost golf ball trick.
If you can't find it drop another one and see where that goes.
( just kidding - I hope it turns up for you )

Re: Compare '39 and '40 Cowl Vent Pivot

Early 39's were riveted.
Later 39 pivot mechanisms look to be the same as the 40.
