I think they are still active. One of the oldest clubs in the country.

Enjoy.

Re: Noisy Valves

I wouldn’t rush into taking things apart.

The engine has been setting for a long time. Valves are most likely sticking or slow. I would start with some Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas.

I once...

Re: Rust in gas tank

If your car is a 28 or 29 it could be an easier fix than a 30 or 31.

We had the same problem many years ago on our keeper 29. The gas tank is not that difficult to remove. We than sloshed it...

Re: Benefits of a thermostat?

Your opening a can of worms.

I have never used a thermostat in any Model A. We lived in Homer, New York for years. Put car away in early November. Out again in late April.

Enjoy.

Re: A bad day!!

I am sorry but I have to again add my two cents.

Changing the front spring should not be difficult. If everything is in order, old spring should just be disconnected from car and axel. New...

Re: We want our "A"

I have only one comment.

Re: A bad day!!

Do you know if car was ever in a front end accident?

When I had our front end rebuilt. We installed a new wishbone, old one was damaged were it connected to the front axel on drivers side.

Re: Possible gas leak

This is one reason I do not leave our car with a lot of gas in the tank.

If still leaking, needs new gasket. Very common. Easy fix.

Once fixed, I still would not leave car setting for any...

Re: Filling Pits on Leaf Springs

We’ve all been there. I just have to say, as a Model A owner for over 60 years and obviously an old man. There are a couple of things that need to be right on your car if you are planning on it...

Re: Troubleshooting advice

Spark, valves, or gas!

Don’t start taking things apart. Try the MMO. Has helped solve a lot of engine problems with stored engines.

Enjoy.

Re: How Many 2020 Miles Did You Drive

3,900 miles in 40 years. Do the math.

We just drive around town and to local car show. Route 95 in my mind is no place for a Model A. Only way across the Connecticut river is on 95. Four lanes...

Re: Gratitude

These cars just keep giving and giving. Great hobby, great people, and wonderful cars.

Don’t forget to check your sleeping Model A’s for mice now while...

Re: Rear Hub Torque

I would not say that sleeves are temporary. If there is just slight wear on the taper and just one sleeve takes that up. You could be good for many many miles or years depending on how you drive.

Re: Cool Running

Sixty years of driving Model A’s and I have never used a thermostat. Like the Model T, a Model A cooling system depends a lot on the syphon effect.

Back in the early sixty’s, working in a gas...

Re: Noisy Hood Hooks

Hood latch handle bumpers. They go over latch handle to keep it away from hood.

I know C. W. Moss has them. In the past I have also purchased from Mac’s. If you install all the required bumpers...

Re: Rear Hub Torque

Over the last 40 years I have also had to add one additional washer to drivers side rear axel.

I was going to use a shim but the washer did the trick.

As mentioned above, make sure it is...

Re: 30 coupe rain gutter

I used the aluminum ones from Mac’s. This was on a Sport Coupe when we were having a new top installed. Top installer had no problems and I think they look great.

I guess it depends on what you...

Re: Consensus on brake drums

You are making a good point. I was told by many Model A people that Model A steel drums could not be turned. I went into rebuilding the brakes thinking that was the case and I would have to replace...

Re: Consensus on brake drums

I wouldn’t use the bands if the drums are still good.

When we had our brake system completely rebuilt, the steel drums were still in good shape. Minor turning needed. Wheels lock up, car does...

Re: Does Your A Start Right UP?

Our 29 most always starts with the second try. GAV at 3/4, gas 3 clicks, choke fully out.

First time fires, then dies. Hit the starter again, engine fires right up and stays running.

I don’t...

Re: So, ...how many Model-As can actually do the 'Three S's reliably?

Great ski area. They make a lot of snow there.

Town of Killington’s average natural yearly snowfall is listed as 93 inches.

Syracuse is listed as one of the three snowiest cities in the US. ...
