Check underneath and see if someone filled the holes. I thought all of the cars had them. Any chance yours is a reproduction body?

"xint" means it is time to get new glasses. The word used was "xlnt" which I assume means excellent.

I have seen the "X" before and always thought they were trying to track something or maybe the was an accidental duplication of the number on the engines and the "X" was added to make the number...

It could just be the photo but those lug nut holes sure look oversize. If they are it would be easier to start with a better wheel. I sure miss the Reno Swap Meet that Bill Harrah used to host.

Serial Number? Don't laugh. If you get a DMV that goes by the book they may want to register the year of your car as determined by the serial number on the frame.

Could also be a big deal if stopped by the police. Could also be a big deal in case of an accident if the insurance adjuster didn't think the wrecked car was the one they insured.

I have heard that it is not good to swing it back and let it bang into place. My '31 RDPU has this feature which I believe was common on all passenger cars.

You might try telling the guy selling the car that the DMV/police have a way to lift the numbers. They use it for serial numbers on guns. If he gets as white as a sheet or starts talking real fast...
