Re: Distributor Installation 40 V8
The top left bolt where the condenser grounds is difficult to access. Notch your condenser ground to slip under bolt making future replacement easier.

Re: Lost voltage to coil while cranking
The resistor drops the voltage to the coil. Not sure what coil you are using but you should have 6volts entering and about 3 volts going to coil. This is easy to test and if bad look for a nos...

Re: 1939 Ford Windshield regulator gears
I have seen gear on eBay recently. It now comes with rivets to make installation easier. When I did mine a few years ago I had to improvise for the special rivets. I too had to " Doctor" the gear to...

Re: Won't Start when Warmed Up
You could check voltage to starter both cold and hot when it cranks slow. Should tell you where the trouble is or at least narrow it down.

Re: Wiring Dash and instrument cluster 1940
Just did this on my 39. I had seat out which is very important as I have been back under dash numerous times to trouble shoot problems and change resistor. It was hard to tell the difference between...

Re: Helmet Distributor Rebuild
Save yourself future grief and notch the condenser ground so you don't have to remove the bolt to change it. You can just loosen it a couple turns.

Re: Initial start on new engine
I would not warm it up without water in it. Only needs block sealer if it leaks. You can achieve oil pressure by cranking it with the plugs out. If it's 6volt a 12 volt battery will turn it faster....

Re: 91A-8600 Radiator fan
The one I got for my 39 deluxe has a second layer of metal on the blades where the rivets are. Most others I've seen don't have this. It has a 3" hub.
