Re: Steering Box Play

AR, not to say the steering box isn't worn out but a bad idler arm can do a very good job of impersonating a worn steering box. Before the front end was redone my '55 had lots of play in the steering...

Re: '52 F-1 Engine Swap

Is the truck converted to 12 volts? Does it have an original working water temperature gauge?
Are there two sensors on the flathead engine connected to the Temp gauge?

One of the Temp sensors...

Re: Steering Box Play

Have you tried contacting these folks? They seem to be one of the larger outfits still around.
I haven't needed steering box repair (yet) so no personal experience with them.

Their webpage does...

Re: What 5.0L ord engine do I have

50fordcoupeman,
Any numbers & letters cast or stamped into the block will be helpful.
As a "Ford" re-manufactured block it may be possible they ground off the original ID numbers.

Re: looking for a door latch rebuilder

Because I'm not at all familiar with sources for truck parts... these folks mainly do T-Bird stuff but they both advertise rebuilt / exchange door latches so they could be worth a phone call.

Re: Tips on transmission removal 1954 Ford

These '54 (& '55 / '56 ?) and newer flex plate examples fasten to the torque converter with either 6 or 4 bolts. Depending if they're the 'early' or newer / replacement style.

Re: Can you id this ford.

The "File Size" of the image has to be just under 2MB to upload it as an attachment. You may have to create a resized copy of the original (digital) photo.

There is at least one other way to...

Re: Early Production '57 Ford Data Plate Questions

Thank you.

"Still working on early de-code."
Here's a link to a website I don't recall having seen before, for both '55 & '56 full sized cars.

Re: White walls. What's up with the Widths?

What's up with the Widths?

The wide whitewalls do look better on cars from the 50's but their prices are quite high.

Depending on the car and the look the owner is going for, and the choice of...

Re: Padded dash install question

A link to their website...

https://hillsresto.com/

They may or may not be able to get a dash pad for 'full-sized' cars, call them directly and ask.

Re: 1952-59 ford social group @ hamb-bone

I can almost remember some of the early front disc brake conversions for '55/'57 T-Birds were done by swapping in the spindles and front brake hardware from mid-70's Granada / Monarch cars.
But the...

Re: Padded dash install question

It's a handy thing to do, makes it easier to see when working under the dashboard. I'm not sure when it was done.
The '55 Bird I have looks to have a thin-ish coat of gray primer on the underside...

Photos of that dash support bracket for a '57 Bird.
The one you have looks very much like this one except for a slight twist across the top of yours.

Re: 1966 289 no start

If there was excess fuel pressure created while the car was parked outside in the sun, checking the vent on the fuel tank /gas cap would be a good thing to do.

Re: 1966 289 no start

To flood the engine from the gas tank thru the carburetor wouldn't it have to go past the float bowl valves that should shut off when full? Is the hill that steep the tank was higher than the carb?
