How much endplay 59-a helmet distributor? With the distributor mounted to the engine I can move the shaft in and out about an 8th of an inch or more.

This seems a bit excessive and could cause...

Thanks everyone. Here is what I found.

I figured out what the problem was once I removed the panel and looked inside. Turns out that the small screw that holds the door handle on had come loose...

The handle on the passengers side door is malfunctioning and will not open the door. The handle inside works fine to open or lock.

I need to access the inside of the door to see what is going on...

I did this some years back, if the rims are in good shape and not all rusty removal won't be to much of a pain. If the rubber is hard and or there is some rust you will likely need to break the bead...

I am having the same problem. I now have the Bosch Blue (internally resisted coil)but will toast points within less than 20 miles. Would like to get this problem solved for sure.
