Re: Who can pour new Babbitts in the PNW?

I came across 2 Kwik Way LBM units in Texas last weekend. One with the Kwik Way Ford fixtures and the other with a Hub City cradle fixture with false cam. Both will do A, B and V8. If you are...

Re: future speedster progress/questiond

Front is easy if you have a ring roller, rear isn't worth the trouble if your time has any value. The local spring shop charges me about the same as a new one to do it properly.

Re: Flathead Babbitt

You can also download the Mahle bearing catalog and find something close by OD and ID. I have the V8 locators for the Kwik Way but have never messed with them. There's nothing complex about them if...

Re: Chevrolet ohv head on a Ford Model A block adapter plate

A few pictures of the adapter plate and graphite gaskets. A friend built one a few year ago and had sealing problems, he ended up having a head gasket made in the NW with copper sealing rings. I...

Re: Chevrolet ohv head on a Ford Model A block adapter plate

That's a great article Brent provided. I can only add that the adapter plate could be vastly improved with modern CNC and 3D design to eliminate the step in combustion chamber. I plan on doing this...

Re: Robert roof 16 valve head-valve covers?

Isn't the 16 valve a single cover? Maybe just knock one up in aluminum until he can find one to copy?

Re: oil pan gasket sealer?

Hylomar is nice to hold in place because it never cures and cleans up with solvent. Use silicone if you hate the next owner.

Re: Anyone running this supercharger

I have one from Aaron but have not had a chance to run it yet. It's based on a small import blower and Aaron makes all the pieces for a bolt on installation with a Model A downdraft manifold.

Re: Ultrasonic cleaner

We have a big one at the shop for doing Porsche engine halves and cylinder heads. Another trick is to plumb a small submersible pump to the fuel inlet and circulate while cleaning.

Re: Kwik way lbm

There was recently a Kwik Way LBM on eBay for $1750. It had the Ford fixtures but they were just shown in the pictures, not listed in the description so you need to know what to look for. I nearly...

Re: Knocking on start up

Exactly. We're not talking about rebuilding the engine, just adjust the shim stack to spec and off you go.

Re: Electrical motor to produce vacuum...is there such thing?

On my old old Tudor I ran a small 12V electric vacuum pump from a diesel RV and a reservoir tank. Both lightweight and inexpensive.

Re: SolidWorks Expert? Make a part...

No, they won't look OK printed in silver PLA. If paint is an option they can be printed, sanded, primed and painted to turn out very nice. If money is no issue they can be printed in titanium and...
