Re: converting to 1970 v8 points for model a
The V-8 points are from any Ford V-8 from 1957 until Ford stopped using points except those with dual point distributors.
I find the original type easier to adjust, otherwise not much difference.

Re: Adding Guages
I wonder if low oil pressure switches for indicator lights are set low enough for the Model A or would the light be on all the time. Mine only shows ~2-3 psig at idle

Re: Headlight Help
How does that work? The sealed beam lense is fluted and the original lense is fluted. Seems the light beam would be, for the lack of a better word, confused??

Re: Shopping list for new A
Well as long as we are recommending hub pullers, I think I would go with the Mitchell hub puller. It is designed to work on both types of Model A hubs....

Re: Battery charger
Never had a problem with any of the Battery Tender products. The have numerous chargers and maintainers, both 6v and 12v.
I have tried the other brand with varying success.

Re: posting a pic
Probably too big of a file. I have to email JPEGs to myself to make them small enough. Then I follow what dave said.

Re: Cause of Blow By
Cape, To answer your question, It is all in the name, 'Blow by' the rings. There will always be a certain amount of blow-by, the rings can not seal 100%. If it is excessive, sorry to say the only...

Re: Float-A-Motor Questions
Yea, well the picture from Bert's doesn't even show all the parts you should get with the kit, the rubber piece for the "transmission mount" for example.
It is good to see Bratton's includes the...

Re: Float-A-Motor Questions
Does anyone know why they countersink the holes on the rear mount? The bolts they provide are not countersunk. I installed the countersunk holes facing down.

Re: 1929 Murray Rear Dome Light
My August '30 Town Sedan has the oval light above the rear window also but has a different bezel than the '29. So do the Delux Fordors I believe.
Same thing with the straps

Re: Zenith Carb Questions
As I mentioned, you can paint Zeniths. I was referring to Tilloson and Marvel carb bodies. Bead blasting ruins the finish on pot metal castings, throttle and choke plate and shafts.
No thanks, I...

Re: Zenith Carb Questions
Good tips on cleaning carburetors Dave. Chemical cleaning is best. Please don't bead blast carburetors to clean them like a lot of "rebuilders" do. I realize this thread is about Zeniths that will be...

Re: Starting dormant engine
I agree with 31Tudor. Since the Model A does not have a pressurized oil system, turning the oil pump (if you could) would not accomplish much. Better to pour oil down the distributor hole. I would...

Re: Troubleshooting advice
So it sounds like you have the valve cover off and all valves are moving? What are the numbers on your compression test?
Have you checked for carbon arcing as suggested in post #13.
